- CMS
- Content Management System – a way of publishing and managing content for the web.
- Content plan
- A full hierarchical list of your proposed web content indicating status and ownership. A key document in managing content development.
- Content surgery
- An informal training session in which contributors bring their work for discussion with a skilled writer/editor.
- Content template
- Often used when preparing web content to ensure that all associated information is included or referenced including key words, images, captions and downloadable documents as well as the body text for the page.
- Copy
- Content for websites or print publications.
- Editorial guidelines
- A guide to the editorial rules that apply to your communications outputs; used to ensure consistency and adherence to your brand standards/style.
- Information design
- Site maps, wireframes and functional specifications; the planning documentation that provides a blueprint for multimedia development.
- Keywords
- Words or short phrases users might use when searching for the content on the web.
- Search engine optimisation
- Preparing a website to enhance its chances of being ranked in the top results of a search engine.
- Site audit
- Analysing the content of a web site to determine the content assets you have including web pages, images, and downloadable files.
- Wireframe
- Also known as a paper prototype or schematic. A visual way of showing the functional components of a web page and how they will work; usually part of website planning.
- User-focused
- Writing or designing with the needs of the user uppermost – rather than, for example, designing around an organisation’s structure.
